THE MUSIC STUDIO IS OPEN. All regularly scheduled lessons and classes are being held.
Rich in instruments, light, space…and easily accessible.
We are located in the old Roessleville School on Central Avenue in Albany. The four rooms used for classes, built mid-20th century, are naturally sound-proofed, acoustically lively, well-lit, and large. All of the classrooms have a grand piano and eight digital pianos - one for each student. No student needs to share an instrument, plus young students are exposed to and get to use high quality acoustic pianos. (Playing a grand piano impresses even the most jaded seven-year-old and young ears benefit from hearing the fine tones of a good instrument.)
Additionally, we stock each classroom with the many instruments used in classes: Orff instruments (xylophones, glockenspiels, and metallophones, among many others), rhythm instruments, guitars, recorders, an enormous variety of drums, and "shaky" "things".
Piano lessons, rehearsals, and Piano Class take place in three additional rooms.
We use other locations and facilities also. Students in Music Fundamentals and Creative Keyboard perform at the Palace Theatre in Albany for their year-end show and beginning in Creative Keyboard, students perform in off-site recitals. Most of our recitals, for students in The Piano Program as well, are held at the State University of New York-Albany. Concert halls at Emma Willard, the College of St. Rose, Russell Sage, and elsewhere are also used as the opportunity arises. Performing at these sites helps make the performance more special for our students and more accessible for friends and family, while ensuring that the quality of the instruments used is high and the acoustics, friendly.
